About SAESL

A joint venture company between Rolls-Royce Plc and SIA Engineering Company. The company first started operations in 2001 and has since become a market leader for both engine overhaul and component repair services.

 

As a result of sustained business growth, SAESL has continued to expand its facilities and develop new capabilities for both its engine overhaul and component repair businesses. The Engine Overhaul business has the capability to service all products in the Trent engine family, this includes Trent 500, Trent 700, Trent 800, Trent 900, Trent 1000 and Trent XWB; SAESL is the only Trent engine MRO that can support all product variants. The Engine Overhaul business has the capacity to repair and overhaul over 300 Trent engines per year and it is equipped with a state-of-the-art Engine Test Facility that supports our best-in-class engine turnaround times.

Job Responsibilities

HSE Leadership & Governance

  • Drive the execution and operationalisation of SAESL's Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Management System (SMS) across assigned Operational Business Units (OBUs).
  • Serve as the primary interface between Central HSE and Operations, ensuring HSE standards, governance requirements, and operational risk controls are consistently implemented and sustained.
  • Lead HSE performance within assigned OBUs by supporting operational leaders in risk ownership, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen safety culture and operational excellence.
  • Provide functional leadership, coaching, and performance oversight to OBU HSE personnel, ensuring consistent application of HSE standards and effective operational risk management across all business units.
  • Provide direct HSE oversight and support for Logistics operations to ensure effective governance, compliance, and risk management.

 

HSE Management Systems & Compliance

  • Implement, maintain, and continuously improve HSE frameworks and programmes in alignment with corporate strategies, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure all required licences, permits, certifications, and statutory approvals remain valid and compliant.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and all applicable workplace safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and review incident investigations, validate root cause analyses, ensure timely reporting to relevant stakeholders, and drive the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Promote organisational learning by ensuring lessons learnt from incidents are effectively communicated and embedded into operational practices.

 

Operational Partnership & Risk Management

  • Partner closely with OBU Directors, managers, and cross-functional stakeholders to implement HSE programmes and identify opportunities for operational risk reduction.
  • Conduct trend analysis and common cause reviews to develop innovative and transformational initiatives that improve safety performance and operational resilience.
  • Provide HSE technical expertise to support operational activities, contractor management, equipment selection, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee contractor HSE management, ensuring compliance with permit-to-work systems, critical risk controls, and company HSE requirements.
  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor HSE audits and inspections, ensuring timely closure and verification of corrective and preventive actions.

 

Operational Excellence & Project Management

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation to drive SAESL's Zero Harm and Zero Emission strategies while fostering a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Identify and implement best practices and emerging technologies (e.g. Smart Facilities and Smart HSE solutions) to improve operational efficiency, strengthen risk controls, and optimise business performance.
  • Lead and manage HSE-related improvement projects, ensuring delivery within agreed scope, schedule, budget, and performance objectives.

 

Reporting & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the key operational liaison between Central HSE governance and site leadership, ensuring timely communication, escalation, and resolution of HSE matters.
  • Prepare and present HSE performance reports, project updates, key risks, and strategic recommendations to Senior Leadership and internal stakeholders.
  • Prepare and submit statutory reports to regulatory authorities in accordance with legal and compliance requirements.
  • Manage HSE-related projects involving workplace safety improvements, cost optimisation, and facility or infrastructure enhancement initiatives.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, maintain effective relationships with regulatory authorities, and ensure ongoing compliance with legal, ISO, and corporate governance requirements.

 

Qualification / Experience

·       Degree in Health, Safety & Environment (HSE), Engineering, or a related discipline.

·       Minimum 4–6 years of relevant HSE experience, preferably in the manufacturing, aerospace, or engineering industry.

·       Registered Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) and certified Fire Safety Manager (FSM).

·       Certified in ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.

·       Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

·       Experience with Microsoft Power Platform tools (e.g. Power BI and Power Automate) is preferred.

·       Strong knowledge of Workplace Safety & Health (WSH), Fire Safety, and Environmental regulations applicable to the manufacturing and building industries, with hands-on operational experience and sound technical expertise.

·       Good understanding and practical application of HSE management systems, with the ability to develop, implement, and continuously improve governance frameworks.

·       Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a solution-oriented mindset.

·       Excellent stakeholder management, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

·       Proven project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and drive continuous improvement across the organisation.
